If the rain water drainage canals and culverts system is flowing
properly without any "crooked" and "90 degree" turns and bends that
affected the flows, the flooding would have been averted.

Even that small drain in whampo estate would not have flooded if the
canal that flowed to had not been flooded with muddy rain water, and
that young indonesian school boy would not have drowned in the small
drain and and died helplessly in vain.

Now today flooding Tanglin Shopping was shown on TV to have flooded
with muddy water from the flooded roadside.

They are only good at getting themselves high pay and up to 8 months
of Performance bonus even if they don't perform up to par

The flooding problem was very serious, as it affected many areas
especially the areas where the ministers and elite people live,
causing them traffic problems and soaking their car engines.

Excuse found - Software glitch.

Excuses used so far:
1. Once in 50 years occurance

3. Canal blocked by debris
4. Singaporeans caused it

1. Sleeping minister
2. Incompetent ministry
3. Officials sleeping on the job
4. Lack of planning
5. Lack of foresight

That former water minister now happy to see he had escaped this time
from this flooding as he is no more in it. That new water minister
Vivian Bala now holding it.

Actually the answer is quite simple.

PUB engineers could always leverage on the piping system of the Deep
Tunnel Sewage System and use it to purge excess rainwater from surface
out to the sea.

At the moment the sewage system and the drainage system separated for
obvious reasons.

As we all know, the main objective of the Deep Tunnel Sewage system is
treat various form of sewage, treat it, and discharge it safely out to
sea. It secondary objective is of course, to reclaim sewage water into
Newater and discharged into our reservoirs as portable water.

In contrast, the main objective of Singapore drainage system is divert
surface water or rainwater into the Marina Basin which is then further
treated into portable water.

What PUB engineers can do is to see if when there is a huge downpour,
would they be able to capture the excess rainwater in flooding area by
using the retention pond within the Deep Tunnel Sewage System use it
purge the excess rainwater out to sea ?

That means PUB might need to figure out how to link the drainage system
of flooding areas to the Deep Tunnel Sewage System safely.

I believe linking the two system is possible and viable and the Deep
Tunnel Sewage System should be able to handle the excess load. However,
it is always better to be cautious and test it out to see if it really
works !!
