Arab Spring scare hell out of LKY

and I told you before, your blood will be spilt in vain.
The people still wanted the pap to rule.
That's the end ofthe story...at least for this election.
But seriously, the situation is spore is a bit different from the middle
east.
Yes, there are similarities as well....like the people's use of the internet
to proliferate their views,etc.
So, I dont think there will be blood on the street.
Ironically, I think there may be blood on the street if the pap loses the
election.
Imagine this....opposition wins....pap refuses to give up power and mobilise
the army.
....then there may be there will be blood on the street.
Will the americans come in to help, like they do in Libya ??
Hard to say...Obama gave a speech recently to clarify the situation...
that they will uphold american VALUES over american INTEREST !!!
...and he named various dictatorial regimes in the middle east....but he
left out Saudi Arabia...
......so we dont even know if the yanks will intervene if the pap (or any
party) tries to hold power by military means....which may actually embolden
the army to take over.
But those are hypothetical questions for the future....
For now.......people should question ....(a) if the denial of nomination for
T.Pagar is fair (b) should the pap be disqualified in Marine Parade, cos of
the "honest mistake" made by Tin.
The irony I see is this.....actually in both cases.....wahtever "breaches"of
the rules is purported to have taken place, they are quite "trivial"; ie.
the opposition should have been allowed to contest in T.Pagar, and the PAP
should not be disqualified in M.Parade. In any western democracy, this would
have been the outcome. Yes, we dont want to import western type democracy
(wholesale) into Spore; but there are certain good things that we can import
from western democracy; not everything about western democracy is bad.

The TP case amounts to an intentional obstruction. From evidences of those
involved, it is clear the secret police were involved in frustrating the
people's candidate from contesting in TP.
For this alone, the whole GE2011 could have been disqualified in any fair
international court.
